First “Virtual Brownbag” Conference Call + Contest to Help WfW Win $500

Hello donors and friends of Water for Waslala!  We’re doing something new, exciting and outside-the-box, and I hope you can be a part of it. I invite you to join us this Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 8pm EST for our first ever “Virtual Brownbag” Conference Call.

Simply follow this link to register for the call.

How many non-profits give you the opportunity to sit back at your computer and hear a live, interactive presentation on where your hard-earned, donated dollars are going?  Not many, we thought, so we figured we’d bring the Waslalan communities directly into your living room.

I will moderate the call, and our recently finished Waslala Project Manager– Meaghan Gruber will lead most of the call and walk us through the construction of our most recently completed system, El Varillal II.  Our engineering intern, David Rounce, will also present on his design work for El Guabo and Yaro Central– two communities due for a WfW-funded system by the end of 2011.

Hope to have you join us on Dec. 8.  We promise you’ll learn a lot, see plenty of wonderful photos, and hear plenty of inspiring stories!

Also, please take a minute a day (through Dec. 9) to help WfW supporter and MIT graduate student Patrick Flynn win a TIAA-CREF contest.  If (or rather WHEN) Pat wins, Pat will donate $500 of the winnings to Water for Waslala. Simply help him… help us. Not a bad deal!

The steps are quick and easy:

1. Check out his idea for raising the United States savings rate at this YouTube page:  Pat’s idea is really good one!

2. Each day until Dec. 9, simply stop by TIAA-CREF’s Facebook page at and vote for Pat’s idea.

Good luck Pat!  And thank you for considering helping Water for Waslala through this effort!
